The New Hampshire Butterfly Monitoring Network (NHBMN) is a collaborative, statewide effort that engages volunteers in counting and identifying butterflies using modified Pollard Walks, NABA count circles, and opportunistic sightings. The network is led by New Hampshire Fish and Game and UNH Cooperative Extension, in collaboration with local education centers, land trusts, and conservation partners. NHBMN offers online trainings, field days, and a variety of educational resources to help people learn about New Hampshire’s butterflies and contribute data to track population trends over time. The project began in 2022 with recruiting and training individuals in butterfly identification and updating species' range maps. Pollard surveys are scheduled to begin in 2026.
